let's get ready to rrrrrrr-rumble!

i must say i found this morning's fight a bit disappointing.  i was hoping for bloodshed, courtesy of our pac-man --- bwahaha!!! but, i likewise had faith that notwithstanding the bloodshed, nobody would get hurt (in the words of manny "hurt, i a mean, badly hurt, you know ... i know in boxing people get hurt but i hope not hurt, badly hurt, you know" --- definitely got you manny! idol, love ya, you know!) ...
anyway, sa tinagal-tagal kong nanonood kay manny, i realized i was so ignorant of basic boxing terms (at least, the textbook meaning). red angry bird who was my sidekick for today, "clarified" some terms to me.  here goes:
  1. KO or knockout -  when the boxer loses because he cannot get up unassisted after being floored after the count of 10 (example, pacquiao and hatton's fight, 2nd round pinatulog na agad si hatton)
  2. TKO or technical knockout - when boxer loses by technical knockout or TKO if the referee intercedes and stops the fight declaring them unable to continue because of bad cuts or bruises, they cannot go on or cannot defend themselves (example, the undercard fight today -- alvarado was declared the winner via TKO because the corner of the opponent signaled the referee to stop the fight already -- bugbog sarado at hilo na ang bata nila)
  3. Draw - when no winner or loser is declared because both boxers tie or earn equal number of points from the judges
  4. UD or unanimous decision - when all 3 judges agree on a winner
  5. majority decision - when 2 of 3 judges agree on a winner
as to "split decision" ... red angry bird and i have a split definition and i do not think that any is reliable so best to google it na lang, hehe!

congrats for your win, manny! ...and thank you for being a positive boost to our country. mabuhay ka, you know!
