blast from the past : trolls by russ berrie

i used to have a 9-inch red haired naked troll (and another small one) ...

i "wikipediad" and learned that it is christmas-related... (and apparently, russ berrie is only one of the many manufacturers of troll dolls...hmmm...that's kinda odd!)
"Originally created in 1959 by Danish fisherman and woodcutter Thomas Dam, the dolls became popular in several European countries during the early 1960s, shortly before they were introduced in the United States. Dam, a poor woodcutter, could not afford a Christmas gift for his young daughter Lila and carved the doll from his imagination. When other children in the Danish town of Gjøl saw the Troll Doll, they wanted one as well and Dam began selling them locally."
not sure what the original troll looked like but these are the holiday-themed trolls i got from the net...

and this, "my" elusive troll --- the "kiss me i'm irish" green-haired shamrock-boxed up troll

...for some weird reason, this was discontinued. why-o-why! [kung sabagay, weird din ako at gusto ko pa to! hahaha!  --- part of my green/shamrock/good luck thingy addiction, you know!]
