vere dictum-Knox and Sollecito

"vere" (true or truly) "dictum" (a thing said). This is according to www.yourdictionary.com.
I have been following the case of Amanda Knox, a pretty and young American student. My interest started when I saw her conviction 2 years ago in Italy. I was just curious because she became the most searched topic in Yahoo during that time.  Knox and her then boyfriend Sollecito (Italian) were convicted of murdering of her roommate Meredith Kercher (British). Allegedly, the murder was an ugly result of a satanic ritual or sort of an orgy. Kercher was found half naked and dead in their room. Both accused were sentenced to more than 20 years and were incacerated for more than 4 years since the trial. They both filed an appeal. Just yesterday, CNN reported that she was acquitted on appeal.

Familiar? Vizconde trial, di ba? After almost 20 years, Lauro Vizconde got one of the most unforgettable shocks since the murder of his family. The most popular of the accused, Hubert Webb (son of ex-Senator Webb) was acquitted.

Again, "vere dictum" (true thing said). Finding the truth nowadays must have some empirical basis. if DNA says there is no match, then acquit. Forensic evidence is indeed a powerful tool.

I just wish brilliant minds can devise something that will quickly and accurately convict people committing election fraud, smuggling, corruption and other heinous wrongs, rather than going over some paperworks, endless rhetorics and media coverage. I wonder when will that be.
