resolutions check

So far, I have been living up to most of my New Year's resolutions.

1.  Go to mass on Sundays, check!  In fact, there was this Sunday when our house was overflowing with in-laws all day.  Notwithstanding, I managed to sneak out with my little boy to attend mass even without the Big Boy.

 

2. Not buy paper, check!  This is turning out to be harder than I thought.  Sometimes, I linger around those post-its at National Book Store, just to test my limits.  Hmpf! I know, cray cray....

 

3.  Take charge, be more makulit, and audit the refrigerator, check!  In other words, don't take the backseat when it comes to mommy stuff.  This resolution is harder to measure, but it is just my personal resolve to not act like 'chill' when it comes to managing the household and the weight of the Big Boy which is really getting out of hand, and the websites the little boy visits, etc. May sound micromanaging to you, but I just want my presence to be felt more in the house this year.

 

4.  Start things early in the day, check!  Days are indeed longer, but so many things are done.  And i would rather work in the mornings than in the evenings because evenings are much lovelier and the perfect time to relax.

 

The other day, lunchtime being still a couple of hours away, I was looking for something to munch on (my breakfast was at 445 a.m.).  Thankfully, I found these 'Lumpiang Shanghai' cheese curls barrels in my drawer.  I totally forgot about those, and those were given to me by Z a couple of weeks ago!  

Did you see my stock of Carb Trim?  These were given by Z's hubby and Z narin.  I still drink one big glass every lunchtime.  I really believe it is working for me!

 

(note: I started keeping my things in those plastic boxes about a year ago, and so far, my drawer is still clutterfree...)

EBook 3: 44 (Forty Four)

Okay, call me an e-book addict if you want.
I started reading this book last Monday evening and I can't stop myself afterwards.
Again, IT'S FREE.

The title is "44 (Forty Four)" by Jools Sinclair

The story is so simple.
The main character, Abby Craig is a teenager who had been dead for 44 minutes after drowning in an icy lake. She was resuscitated and brought back to life by Dr. Mortimer when she was rushed to the hospital. Since her "re-birth", things were not the same. Her memories of what really happened on the day she drowned became vague, her world literally became black, white and gray and she cannot see colors. She had nightmares that were seem real-which in effect made her a witness to gruesome killings. People who helped Abby recover were her sister Kate, her best friend Jesse and Dr. Mortimer. Abby was referred to a shrink (Dr. Krowe) because her mind just shuts off when in comes to recalling how she drowned. Dr. Krowe helped her and the discovery of what's happening to her, Jesse, the nightmares and how she returned to life all unfolded when she was brought back to the icy lake.

It's a nice story that can be made into a movie. It's like "Sixth Sense" and will be a blockbuster if shown on Halloween.

I would love to see Dakota Fanning or Kristen Stewart for the lead role. Dakota with her big and expressive eyes or Kristen with her "disturbed and pale" look.

For Kate, I'd like Naomi Watts if  Abby would be Dakota or Kate Beckinsale if it's Kristen.

fab: KK

from their shop D A S H to Kardashian Kollection...if only for this, i respect the Kardashian sisters.  they really went for it! mind you, there a number of good finds in their collection and they ship in the philippines (through sears)!  their line consist of handbags, denims, jewelry, intimates, women's, sunglasses and shoes.  ...denims look cool but not for my build...shoes, ok but to too high for me...jewelry and handbags, with fab pieces but just not me... i love a couple of pieces from their clothing line though and i like their intimates (surprsingly, not sexy-eeky and true to its title -- intimates!) if i were at sears and KK was on sale, i would probably grab 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 from their rack (then deny it, haha!)

am i going crazy appreciating the brand of the kardashian sisters?! bo-hooo!

yeah, maybe i am... for the past months i've been having a sort of "post partum syndrome" cum "familiarity breeds contempt" cum "about time to graduate from that boutique drama" with my usual favorite "zara" and i have been straying other territories  (mostly window-shopping though, emphasis on window! no budget and...no body, hahaha!)...hopefully, my 6-year love story with zara will find its way back...in the meantime, i am just wandering around...and for this particular (and weird and crappy) day (only?), KK is a line that caught my eye...  check out the sisters and their ads!

Ebook 2: Fools Rush In

I have been reading this book for more than 2 weeks already. It was only last weekend, while I was in Luneta, that I was able to finish it.

I got it for free.
It's a love story of Bella de Rossi whose parents are from Italy and with some Italian-mafia affiliations .Her family moved to Texas and started some good business from a pizza restaurant to a wedding club. Bella was turning 30 and still single. Most of her exes were petrified by her family's crazy antics. She was finally chosen by her Dad to take over the wedding club business. Her first wedding assignment was for a daughter of an oil tycoon in Texas and wedding theme is Western or cowboy wedding. She bumped into her love interest D.J. (known as "Dwayhne") when she was looking for a DJ to host the wedding. It turned out that D.J. is not a real  DJ but someone who's into construction. Of course, he was described in the book as cowboy-looking hunk with a Texan twang and the works. They fell in love and the rest is a happy ending. Whew!

I can compare this to the movie "My Big Fat Greek Wedding"

The lead characters were from different cultures who embraced American culture except that their families are stuck with their own cultures.Puro culture. After the families learned to adjust ("in the name of love") for their daughters, both stories had a happy ending.

If Fools Rush In will be made into a movie, I would like Owen Wilson to be the leading man.

colored filing cabinets

saw these colored filing cabinets at national bookstore in quezon ave... love it, except that these are P5-7k more expensive than the usual-grey ones. take note, thousands (and not hundreds) more expensive...gave me the idea to just have the usual-grey cabinet spray-painted with the color that i like :)

finally!!!! i've been searching for clover bits for so long!!!! (i prefer the "original" cheese and bbq flavor though in the "original" plastic packs....but I am not complaining!) wohooo!!! reminds me of when i was
