Busog Trip 8: Banana Cake (turned into muffin)
Staycation
We start with this improvised pool set up in the garden.
Maybe home-made baked cookies or cupcakes later, and then a nice rented movie (from Videocity, because I abhor pirated DVDs) before we go to mass ... We'll see!

yummy: cafe ysabel
before my shift, hubby treated me to dinner...as if i was having my last meal!
we ate at cafe ysabel (since it's near cardinal santos) and it was my first time to eat there. [on the other hand, hubby frequents that resto for meetings, allegedly (haha!)]
i love the the warm flat bread they serve together with their own dipping sauce. extraordinarily yummy! my guess is that the dip has sun-dried tomatoes, fresh tomatoes, EOO, garlic, balsamic vinegar, cayenne pepper, thyme, salt, sugar and pepper...naks! As if! Haha!
i ordered lengua with mashed potatoes (while hubby got norwegian salmon with pasta). yum, yum!
will definitely go back to try the rest of the menu! if i get lucky, will be back for a short course at CACS, wohooo! iWish!

Stargazer on Kindle
The other day, I was listening to Evernight by Claudia Gray via Text-to-Speech on Kindle. I finished the entire book yesterday.
But it is a series, so I just had this unstoppable urge to buy Book 2. By now you know that I really spoil myself with books. I am pretty sure that is one of the few things I want to do when I am old and sitting on a rocking chair. Hehe.
Book 2 is Stargazer. It costed me 8.99 USD. At first I felt too stingy to buy a digital item at that amount, I mean I just bought Evernight for 7 USD last week. Uhhm, not smart huh?
But thank Amazon there is such a thing now as Return This Book, which you click for a refund. I returned Evernight, and then I bought Stargazer. I guess I will have to live with that for now. Sort of cheap but practical, isn't it?

Saving Face
I am talking about the documentary movie which will be shown on March 8, 2012 on HBO.

The documentary is about the revelation of the plight of Pakistani women. These women were victims of abusive male-dominated society where it's a norm to beat and cause physical suffering to the female species. The surgeons in the story went to Pakistan to treat women whose faces were thrown with acid-disfiguring or scarring them forever.(According to an article in www.examiner.com). They do this when a woman disagrees with them. I recall when I was in high school, there was this acid-throwing scare in Metro Manila. I was afraid to go out of the house on weekends because of what was told in the news- that a crazy fellow throws acid at commuters on rush hours.
Anyway, in Pakistan, women were not allowed to reason out or fight for their rights because any attempt would mean physical pain. I just cannot understand why their culture allows such cruelty.AS IF THEY DO NOT HAVE MOTHERS!!!
I will surely watch this on March 8. By the way it won an Oscar for Best Documentary Short Subject.
